Who we are

Rumsey Tavern is a restaurant, bar and event venue at 233 Lowe Drive, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. You can reach us at rumseytavernshepherdstown@gmail.com or (681) 688-7800. This page explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and how you can ask us about it.

Information we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us. That happens in a few places on this site:

• Contact form (Contact page) — your name, email, phone number (optional) and message.
• Careers application (Careers page) — your name, email, phone, the position and employment type you’re applying for, start date, experience, a link to your resume, and your availability.
• Private event enquiry (Private Events & Catering page) — your name, email, phone, event type, date, guest count, room preference, bar service preference and notes.
• Event Booking and table request (the “Event Booking” button, on every page) — your name, email, phone, and details about the event or table you’re requesting, such as guest count, date, time, occasion and notes.
• “Bring us a set” musician enquiry (Entertainment page) — this is a plain email link, not a form. Whatever you send goes straight to our inbox from your own email address, the same as any other email.

We don’t ask for payment details, government ID, or any sensitive personal information anywhere on this site.

How your information reaches us

• The Contact and Careers forms are sent through Web3Forms, a third-party form-delivery service, which forwards your submission to our email inbox. We don’t store these submissions in a database of our own.
• The Private Events form and the Event Booking modal open WhatsApp with your details pre-filled as a message. Nothing is sent to us until you press send in WhatsApp yourself, and at that point it’s a normal WhatsApp message between you and our events line, the same as texting us directly.
• None of these forms are connected to our website’s own database. That database only stores our Journal (blog) content and the login for our own staff account.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site, such as which pages are viewed, roughly how long people stay, general device and location information, and which site referred you here. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this.

If you’d rather not be included, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We don’t use any other tracking scripts, advertising pixels, or session-recording tools on this site.

Other services we use

• Web3Forms — delivers the Contact and Careers form submissions to us by email.
• WhatsApp — carries the Event Booking and Private Events messages once you choose to send them.
• Google Maps — the “Find us” link on our Contact page opens Google Maps in a new tab. We don’t embed a map or share any information with Google when you click it.
• Cloudinary — hosts the photos on our Journal (blog) posts. Photos are only uploaded by our own staff through the password-protected admin area; visitor information never passes through Cloudinary.

We don’t sell your information

We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

How long we keep it, and your rights

Form submissions arrive in our email inbox, and we keep them as long as we need to handle your enquiry or application, then delete them. We don’t keep a separate marketing list.

You can ask us at any time what information we have about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing rumseytavernshepherdstown@gmail.com.

Children’s privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

We may update this page from time to time. Check back here for the current version — the date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
